The Throne of Grace

Embracing a Relationship over Performance

The Throne of Grace

WHY DO I KEEP SLIPPING BACK 😭

Many times, I've said to God, "I am sorry I failed you again. This time, I promise, I won't repeat it again." Then, after a few days, weeks, months, or years, I found myself repeating the same statement to God: "Father, I feel so terrible. I've failed you again. What a helpless lady I am."

I can only imagine God saying, "Dearest Rachel, why don't you quit the act? Can't you see? Stop trying to please me by your performance." "It is not about following rules; rather, it is about nurturing a relationship with me – listening to the Shepherd's voice and allowing the Holy Spirit to produce godly character in you."

Perhaps you find yourself going back to God every time, feeling unworthy. You may believe you'd be a hypocrite coming before Him, and He would chastise you, scold you, and say, "How dare you think you have the right to enter into my presence?"

You're not alone in this struggle. Many people including me get caught up trying to follow rules and please God only to realize it's about relationship, not perfection.

I want you to know that there's a throne of GRACE. It's called the throne of GRACE, not the throne of works or perfect performance. You can go before Him boldly and say, "Father, I'm sorry. I've done everything in my own effort. I haven't been depending on Jesus. I've been trying to approach you on my own merit. I have misunderstood you. I am ready to accept a relationship with you rather than trying to follow rules."
